Q. Exactly what is a real estate virtual assistant?
A. A real estate virtual assistant is a freelancer hired by a realtor or real estate company to handle aspects of their business that they don’t know how to do or don’t have time to do. Real estate VA’s perform all kinds of tasks, such as:
- preparing listings
- generating leads
- handling emails
- managing social media accounts
- managing transactions
Even with no previous real estate training whatsoever, you can learn how to become a freelance real estate virtual assistant and work online where you want, when you want!
Q. Why do real estate agents need virtual assistants?
A. For lots of reasons! Typical pain points for real estate agents are lack of systems, lack of social media presence, lack of follow-up, inability to prioritize time with the right tasks and burnout from an intense pace. These are all perfect for a virtual assistant to work wonders with right off the bat.
A real estate VA can make a big impact on an agent’s bottom line by creating systems and taking over tasks that will free him or her up to get out there and sell more homes.
Q. How many hours of the week do real estate VA’s typically work?
A. It really depends on your availability, your goals for your business, how much time you want to put into your work and what your clients’ needs are. There is plenty of opportunity to work part or full time, and you can always scale your time up as you further develop your working relationships.
Q. What is a typical real estate virtual assistant salary?
A. Real estate VA’s typically start out at an hourly rate of around $15 to $25, with a small bonus when a home sells.
You also have an option of charging per project. For example, a standard rate for managing a transaction might be in the $150 to $200 range.
Some real estate VA’s charge for their services using a monthly retainer paid up front. A 20-hour week might translate into a $2,000 per month retainer fee.
Q. How easy is it for someone to find real estate virtual assistant jobs?
A. We are living in simply incredible times when it comes to being a freelancer! More and more businesses are getting away from the 9-5 employee model and are outsourcing for their services.
There are tons of places to look for work as a freelance real estate virtual assistant, including:
- looking as far as your immediate network
- marketing yourself through blogging and guest posting
- using social media networks like LinkedIn and Facebook
- in-person networking events
- job boards
- exploring your local market
