“Making money is not about you,” Caitlin Pyle writes in her book Work at Home. “Flip the switch on this in your mind. Instead of thinking about yourself first, focus on other people. Solve their problems, and your own problem (needing money!) will dissipate naturally.” In her book, Caitlin drives this point home. Sharing her personal job history, three steps to success and 28-day launch plan, she shows you how you can succeed at working for yourself by helping other people.

Work at Home: The No-Nonsense Guide to Avoiding Scams and Generating Real Income from Anywhere is 213 pages of super-motivational expert advice from Caitlin on how to start and succeed at earning income from home. This is not about working at home for an employer; the book is written for people who want to join the rapidly growing world of freelancers.

Caitlin begins her book by going into depth about her own personal work history, giving useful insight into events and experiences that laid the foundation for her to become a millionaire at age 30.

Winning a bread-selling contest in her very first job as a teenager, Caitlin learned the important difference between being paid for hours worked versus being paid for performance. The very last job she held as an adult taught her the skill she would use to make millions.

In this last job Caitlin was a manager in a court reporting agency. One of her duties was proofreading court reporter transcripts. She found this to be easy, and she was good at it. She moved from that job into working at home as a freelance proofreader. Soon realizing she could teach others how to do this, she created the uber-successful Proofread Anywhere online courses.

Caitlin succeeded in building an empire by teaching other people how to earn money working at home doing just one small facet of one of her former jobs. Showing people that it is possible to build out one small skill to create a successful work-at-home career is one of the greatest take-aways from her book.

Other useful take-aways are Caitlin’s views on traditional worklife and freelance life. “Lots of studies show that humans can’t be productive for eight hours a day. Problem solving doesn’t require you to sit at your desk for the best hours of every day.” Earning a living as a freelancer is a possibility, she believes, if you have the right mindset. “Rebrand your fear into curiosity,” she says, urging people to become curious about what will happen if they take action. Yet, she cautions, “don’t think with herd mentality. If it works for [others] , that’s great, but that doesn’t mean you’ll have the same degree of success.”

Caitlin states that it is not easy to make a living working from home and gives detailed information on how to spot a work-at-home scam. “I won’t perpetuate the widespread myth that it’s easy to make a solid income working from home… because it’s not! The higher paying the job, the bigger problems you’ll need to learn to solve. If you expect to make even just an extra $10,000 or so a year without putting in any effort, then you’re not looking for work at home; you’re looking for free money… and there’s no such thing! It’s worth the work. You’re worth the work.”

Caitlin focuses the bulk of the Work at Home book on detailing her three steps to success:  freeing your mind, leveling up your mindset and your skills, and launching your business. The launch section includes a specific 28-day actionable launch plan. The launch plan was so good I went back and read it a second time. If you follow this plan, it actually could work.

Work at Home contains solid, doable advice for anyone who needs to earn money – from people who want to earn extra income working part time out of their homes to people with a goal of building a multi-million-dollar business. Caitlin’s strong voice combined with her practical guidance for creating a successful work-at-home career motivate you and teach you how to get out of the office and make money working at home or anywhere you wish.
